Carys Lock BDS. Cardiff 2013. GDC: 244731
Originally from Plymouth, I graduated from Cardiff University in 2013 and have worked in general practice and in a postgraduate training role at Cardiff Dental Hospital. This further developed my skills and interest in oral surgery and children’s dentistry. I spent a year in Australia working in coastal and rural Queensland which was an exciting and challenging experience, with some patients travelling over 100 miles to visit our practice for emergency treatment.
Most recently I have worked in London, but have decided to relocate back to my home county of Devon. As a friendly and personable individual, I aim to create a welcoming environment in which my patients feel relaxed. My effective communication enables me to provide the best possible treatment, especially for children or for those who are anxious. I am excited to be back in my home county; a beautiful part of the world and I will make the most of Dartmoor and the coast being on the doorstep.
Dr Ksenija Zimnikova DDS, Riga Stradins Latvia, 2003. GDC: 181902
Originally from Latvia, I started my career in dentistry while being a student at university, working as a dental assistant and watching the other dentists to gain experience. After graduating from Riga Stradin’s University in Latvia in 2003, I returned to that practice as a fully qualified dentist. I have always been interested in cosmetic dentistry and after attending several courses in restorative dentistry, I joined another practice that specialised in that field, particularly in providing natural looking tooth coloured restorations, where my art hobby came in useful. In my opinion, dentistry is not only about treatment but also about enhancing appearances and creating beautiful smiles.
In 2010, I moved to the UK, where I have been working as a general dentist for over 11 years in a small and lovely town in Cornwall. I am a very calm and patient person and I aim to make every visit as relaxing as possible. Many patients are very anxious about dental treatment but after having their first appointment they forget that they have ever had any fear of needles and other procedures. I always strive to further my skills and knowledge to provide the best treatment options to my patients, therefore, after taking several courses about root canal treatment I decided to attend higher education and obtain Master’s Degree in Endodontics.
Besides being passionate about dentistry, I am a mum of two lovely kids and I am very proud that my daughter chose to follow in my footsteps and is going to apply for a dental degree course next year. I consider this as proof that the work of a dentist is essential.
