Our Dental Hygienists are regulated by The General Dental Council and work under the direct supervision of the Dentist. We have four Dental Hygienists working at the dental practice: Sarah Parker, Julie Green, Emma Saunders & Alison Dawson. If any patients requiring any information and guidance about manual/electric toothbrushes, brushing techniques, interdental cleaning, and what can help with reducing plaque/calculus (tartar) and staining, then our Dental Hygienists are always happy to ring or email you, to give you the right guidance to achieve healthier teeth and gums, leading to a great smile
Sarah Parker RDH GDC No. 4463
Qualified as a Dental Hygienist in 1993 at Cardiff Dental Hospital where she obtained a Diploma in Dental Hygiene.
Sarah Parker started her dental career in 1981 where she trained and qualified to become a Dental Nurse. This motivated her to qualify as a Dental Hygienist in 1993 at Cardiff Dental Hospital where she obtained a Diploma in Dental Hygiene. She is a clinician, oral health educator and dental health promoter, with the goal of assisting individuals to achieve and maintain optimal oral health.

Julie Green RDH GDC No. 5500
After a career in meteorology in the Armed Forces Julie studied dental nursing at Highbury College in Portsmouth, gaining both the National and BTEC qualifications. After qualifying she undertook various placements within the NHS, private, hospital and community sectors and thus gained a wide range of experience. She then went on to study for a further 2 years at the Bristol Dental Hospital, gaining her Diploma in Dental Hygiene in 1999.
Julie is committed to promoting a high standard of oral care for the patient. She also believes greatly in the importance of continuing education and development for health care professionals. She attends courses, seminars and lectures where ever possible and keep up to date with current ideas by regularly reading the latest Dental Journals. Julie is a member of the British Society of Dental Hygiene & Therapy. You can make an appointment with Julie on a Monday and Friday at our Tavistock dental practice.
Emma Saunders RDH GDC No. 3508
Emma trained as a dental hygienist at University College Dental Hospital London and qualified in 1988. She worked for 15 years for Dr A Sidi Periodontist and Implantologist in London, before moving to Devon. Emma is keen to always keep her knowledge and skills updated and regularly attends courses and lectures. You can make an appointment with Emma on a Monday evening and Wednesdays at our Tavistock dental practice.
Alison Dawson RDH GDC No. 17482
Alison trained as a dental hygienist at Plymouth University Peninsula Dental School and qualified in 2018. She has worked in general practice for 3 years in the Plymouth area. Keen to educate and encourage patients regarding their oral health, periodontal conditions and any treatments that they may require.She strives to create a relaxed environment and ensure a comfortable treatment. You can make an appointment with Alison on a Thursday at our Tavistock dental practice.
